The Dutch Kiki Bertens (WTA 9), the German Angelique Kerber (WTA 2) defeated in the second match in the red group at the WTA Finals in Singapore. The 26-year-old Dutch had three sets (6-1, 3-6, 4-6) and about 2 hours to complete the 30-year-old German to be correct.
Earlier on Monday, beat Sloane Stephens (WTA 6) in the first match in the red group, the Japanese Naomi Osaka (WTA 4). The American had after a marathonpartij of almost 2.5 hours, three sets (7-5, 4-6 and 6-1) to Osaka to beat.
Sunday were the first matches in the white group played. The Ukrainian Elina Svitolina (WTA 7) and the Czech Karolina Pliskova (WTA 8) won them their parties against, respectively, the Czech Petra Kvitova (WTA 5) and the Danish Caroline Wozniacki (WTA 3), the titelverdedigster.
Elise Mertens from Thursday part in the doubles at the WTA Finals, on the side of the Dutch Demi Schuurs.
