Elise Mertens climb Sunday on the new WTA ranking from the sixteenth to the thirteenth place. Kirsten Flipkens returns in the top fifty.
Mertens went out last week in the first round of the Kremlin Cup in Moscow down against the British Johanna Konta (WTA 44), but rises three places in the latest WTA rankings. That is due to the decline of the German Julia Görges, who, despite the title in Luxembourg drops from 9 to 14. Won last year Görges, after all, the Kremlin Cup and WTA tour tournament weighs heavier. The Spanish Garbine Muguruza (13 to 17) and the French Caroline Garcia (12 to 18) lose some positions.
Elise Mertens is Sunday and traveled to Singapore, where they on the side of the Dutch Demi Schuurs will play in the doubles of the WTA Finals. The week after (30 October-4 november) challenged them in the Chinese Zhuhai, the WTA Elite Trophy, also known as the Masters B called. It is for Mertens her first participation.
Alison Van Uytvanck won in Luxembourg the doubles on the side of her partner Greet Minnen, but went there in the singles already out in the first round.
